Nita Ambani, wife of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, is set to join the board of India’s largest private company, it was announced on Friday.
Nita is the chairperson of Reliance Foundation and serves as a director on the board of RIL. She has been nominated to the board in place of Ramnik H. Ambani, who is retiring at the age of 90 years.
Nita’s name will be approved after taking permission from shareholders during the 40th AGM being held on June 18. Her public profile has been rising over the past few years. Apart from running the team, she has built up Reliance Foundation into an organization with 1,000 employees four years after her husband had announced his desire to set it up.
