Ford India reports increase in domestic sales and exports

Ford India reported 66 per cent hike in sales in the month of April at 6,651 units as against 4,003 units sold in the same month corresponding year. On export front, the American car maker witnessed almost two fold increase with 6,646 units shipped to overseas market as compared to 3,267 units exported in the same month last year.

Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has reported pre-tax profits of £1.6bn

_74436751_021319271-1Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has reported pre-tax profits of £1.6bn for the three months to the end of March, almost double the profit recorded in the same quarter a year earlier.The results mark a return to profit for the first time since last summer but RBS expects more fines and damages for mortgage mis-selling in the US. RBS chief executive Ross McEwan promised RBS would be a bank “that does a great job for customers while delivering good returns for our shareholders”.

CEO Ravishankar Gopalakrishnan quits Jet Airways

The top-level exodus at Naresh Goyal-promoted Jet Airways Ltd continues with the Chief Financial Officer and acting CEO Ravishankar Gopalakrishnan quitting, as per a PTI report. “Ravishankar Gopalakrishnan, Chief Financial Officer and acting CEO of the company, has resigned from the services with effect from today,” Jet Airways said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The company did not give a reason for the resignation, which comes less than four months after Gopalakrishnan took over additional responsibility as CEO following the departure of Garry Toomey in mid-January. Gopalakrishnan had put in his papers last month and was supposed to serve until May 5, sources said, adding that he chose to leave three days earlier. Continue reading

Bill Gates Now Owns Less of Microsoft Than Steve Ballmer

Bill Gates, the former chief executive and chairman of Microsoft Corp, will have no direct ownership in the company he co-founded by mid-2018 if he keeps up his recent share sales.Gates, who started the company that revolutionized personal computing with school-friend Paul Allen in 1975, has sold 20 million shares each quarter for most of the last dozen years under a pre-set trading plan.

CNG, PNG prices hiked Rs 2.95 kg & Rs 1 per unit

NEW DELHI: In an upward revision of natural gas prices by 7%, Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the sole city gas distributor (CGD) in the national capital region, increased the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG). After decreasing gas prices by 30% in February, when the government had announced uniform allocation of gas to all CGDs, IGL  increased the CNG price by Rs 2.95 per kg in Delhi and Rs 3.35 each in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. Micromax is looking to earn $1 billion in sales in FY14.

Micromax, the country’s second largest smartphone seller after Samsung, is looking to earn $1 billion in sales in FY14 on account of its performance in the Saarc markets.
